Research published by University of Manchester, conducted by Prof. Doug Miller of UK says, in apparel manufacture there are three PMTS (PTS) consultancy firms specializing in Method Time Measurement (MTM). These are Sri Lanka-based Sew Easy, US-based MODAPTS and UK’s GSD (Corporate) Ltd. Prof. Miller is working at University of Northumbria now.

They have examined how both Lean and Six Sigma has been applied; and appear to say that both approaches blend in to lower overall costs, while improving the Environmental Sustainability. Ratnayake stated elsewhere that, the Hirdaramani Group as outstanding in practicing Industrial Engineering in Sri Lanka Apparel sector, and emphasized that MAS, Brandix, Maliban, Timex and many others are well above global average in Environmental Sustainability as well.
